Date: September 22 2017
Who: Joe Jaensen, Curtis Howard, Ian Newton
Where: Trophy park out of White Springs camp in Flattops wilderness.
Shot off of Elk carcass killed 4 days prior by Ian. Had multiple interactions with this bear. Joe killed bear on Friday afternoon with his Hoyt bow. Shot it at 48 yards with a slick trick broad head. Bear went approx. 50 yards. Last afternoon to hunt. Curtis videoed the whole week. The wind blew relentlessly. Blew the cook tent down at least four times. Our Pennsylvania camp mates questioned “at what point does this become dangerous.” The response was “when you got on a horse. “ The hunt will be know as the trail of broken friendships and shattered dreams. Mainly because the wind was so bad and the only places we could hunt was in the dark timber which was brutal to move through. All in all a very successful hunt that will be remembered forever.
